So Tuesday’s are going to be about wedding day themes. That’s all I’m saying! Read on below to find out more…
You may or may not have thought much about a theme for your wedding day, you may have even thought ‘why do I need one I know what my wedding is going to be like’. But a theme needn’t be an extravaganza and take over the whole wedding, it can be as subtle or as full on as you like.
There are a number of reasons why I think choosing a theme for your wedding is a great idea.
- Firstly I believe it ties your day together. By having a theme it helps you focus on what you want your day to be like. With so much choice now in every aspect of the wedding industry it can be hard to choose exactly what you want and you can run the risk of things seeming a bit higgledy pickledy. If you choose a theme it helps capture the style and feel of the day so when choosing items and speaking to your suppliers you will both have a clear idea of how everything is going to work together. As I said it doesn’t have to be a huge theme that takes over but it can be as simple as you saying “I want my day to feel glamourous” so you may want lots of diamantes and script fonts with lush, rich colours and gorgeous full flowers. That way when you see cute polka dot ribbons and soft pastel colours you will know to steer clear as these things won’t match with everything else on the day.
- A theme is fun!! It makes your day different and memorable. Planning a wedding can be stressful and tiring but if you have a theme it will whet your appetite again with each new task as you think of unique and individual ways of incorporating your theme. Also your guests will go away happy and bursting to tell their friends about the amazing wedding they went to that was so unlike the other four they have already been to this year.
- The final reason I think a theme is a fab idea is because it will truly represent the two of you – after all isn’t that what the big day is all about anyway? By choosing a theme, whether you realise it or not, it is making a statement about you. About what you like, maybe about how you feel about each other or your life ahead together but it will hopefully leave your guests saying “that was so them”. When you choose to get married the day should represent you and your personalities, it shouldn’t be about traditions, or how things should be done or rules, it should simply be a day that sums the both of you up regardless of whether that’s how everyone else does it. So go on, choose a theme, a style, an idea, whatever you want to call it, just make sure it’s about you!!
Over the next few weeks I will be looking at different themes. I will cover ones that are popular at the moment, ones that my couples have used and will also be throwing some of my own ideas in there too. I’d love to hear from you about the themes you used and what you did. I’ll hopefully be able to give you some ideas about how to make your day personal and special but most importantly about YOU!
