I have a bit of a confession to make.

When I re- launched the website I had the best intentions to start up the blog on here and post regularly. Regularly as in more than the once a month I have seemed to manage so far.

So in the spirit of the New Year I promise (fingers crossed) to give you posts that are hopefully interesting, informative and fun about all things wedding related. I even have a structure as to the sort of posts I will post each weekday to keep me on track. So keep an eye out each day this week to find out about the sort of things I will be talking about each day and hopefully you will like what you see and keep coming back for more wonderful wedding-ness!!

This brings me nicely onto today’s post. Mondays will be made up of ‘generalness’. Basically I don’t know about you but on Mondays my brain can’t take anything too heavy or full on so I thought I would keep it simple by chatting about general wedding things; i.e ideas, trends, suppliers I like, my general thoughts about weddings and wedding related stuff and also ideas I may have that might be of some help to you.

So here it is: my first post for 2012 – I hope you like it! As always let me know what you think or if there is any subject/topics wedding wise you would like me to cover. Happy reading! Natalie x

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue

Now I have got to admit I am not totally into all the traditions associated with weddings. Things like speeches, first dances, receiving lines and photo after photo of group shots are traditions that I don’t know if I will honestly include when I get married. (Sorry – I know lots of people love these but they’re just not me – don’t hate me!) But however I do kind of love the ‘Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue’ tradition. I think it’s quite a sweet and subtle tradition that helps to include meaningful items into your wedding day.

Working out how to include all these aspects can be an exciting challenge until that is you get to something blue… how do you incorporate blue into your wedding unless it’s in your wedding colour palette or without doing the obvious and having a blue garter? Well this dilemma is answered! Take a look below at some of the ideas I’ve come up with to include that ‘Something Blue’.

How about blue shoes a la Carrie Bradshaw in the Sex and The City movie? Wow, how I lurve those shoes!! I love the idea of them peaking out beneath a dress as it swishes and sways as you walk.

Obviously your shoe budget may not stretch to Manolo Blahnik’s! So I have given you an alternative, what about these sparkly Carvela heels? The bonus with shoes like these is that you will definitely be able to wear them again after the wedding.

1.Manolo Blahnik shoes        2.Carvela shoes

If you’ve got your shoes sorted have you thought about something like the Duchess of Cambridge’s sapphire engagement ring – you could have a bit of blue bling! I love this Amanda Wakeley ring, it’s a really modern alternative to Princess Catherine’s sapphire ring. Or how about this cute charm or funky earrings?

1. Ring   2.Charm   3. Earrings

Finally, another idea is to wear a blue hair accessory, how about this feathered number? Or why not paint your nails blue? If you don’t fancy blue fingernails be a bit more discreet and just do your toenails. I think this midnight blue colour is gorgeous and could look very classy.

Failing all of the above if you haven’t decided to already why not get your pet involved and put them in this cute blue and white polka dot collar and lead! Imagine the oohs and aahs you would get walking them down the aisle in that!

(Ok I admit the dog idea came about mainly because I couldn’t resist including the image of the pug!)

1. hair accessory,  2. nail varnish  3. dog collar

Let me know if you have had anymore novel ideas on the blue front and I hope you have enjoyed our first post and will be back tomorrow!
