Stationery SOS | Why navy, grey and kraft are your go-to colours this year

As a wedding stationer it’s obvious to quite quickly see colour trends forming for the upcoming year. This year has been all about greys and navy as well as lots of kraft card. A rustic, country feel is still prominent as well as a very simple and elegant style.

When printing colour onto kraft card you have to be cautious as to which colours you choose as when printing on a darker background like kraft card you can loose the depth of colour if you choose anything too light. You’re best to stick to dark colours or very bright colours – but be aware the colours won’t be as bright as they would on a white card. Therefore lots of my couples choosing to have their stationery printed on kraft card are sticking with either navy or black. These colours lend themselves well to the rustic feel when paired with kraft anyway so are always a good choice.

So many of my couples are also choosing a colour palette that involves navy or grey. The great thing about these two colours are that they are so versatile and sit well with pretty much any other colour. They also give a really elegant and stylish feel to your stationery. A popular choice is to also use various shades of grey rather than two or three different colours, giving a very sophisticated feel.

Pink and purple continue to be popular and again look good paired with navy and grey. Colour palettes tend to be toned down and softer this year, with less bright and bold colours.

Continuing with the softer colour palettes is a neutral colour choice. Nudes, blush, taupe and golds are another popular choice that has a very calm and elegant feel.

So you see navy, grey and even kraft are great starting points for a colour palette. They work as great base colours that are highlighted by complimentary accent colours or shades to create the style of wedding you want.

Let me know over on the Facebook page what your chosen colours are or even tag me in a pic on Instagram!
